A wealthy former sugar daddy has revealed that he developed trust issues and quit seeing sugar babies after spending close to $200,000 on a woman who ended up ghosting him.
The anonymous founder and CEO of a global software company had been divorced for almost four years when he joined the sugar baby dating site Seeking Arrangement, where he struck up relationships with three women.
In a 2018 interview with Refinery29 that was republished this year, the then 50-year-old admitted things got out of hand with the last woman he dated on the site, saying he spent more money on her than the other two sugar babies combined.

'I spent $200,000 while dating on the site, and about 90 per cent of that was on the third woman,' he said. 'I bought her a lot of jewelry. I'd buy her a ring, she would lose the ring or say it got stolen, and I'd buy her another ring to replace the ring. Then her rent, it was $3,500, $3,600, plus a security deposit. I know. It was sort of like, hey dude, what are you doing?'
The man, who has a net worth 'north of $50 million,' described himself as coming off younger than he is, saying: 'I’m 50 years old but I probably look 38.'
'I’m incredibly fit, I work out all the time, and I have the mentality of someone in their 20s because I just love to have fun,' he added. 'I jump out of planes, you know? I’m just one of those guys.'
However, after he got divorced, he decided 'conventional' dating wasn't right for him because he travels too much for work. He thought it if he financially supported someone as a sugar daddy, he could have a companion when he wanted one.
The businessman claimed he used to date women in their 40s but they were 'tainted by life' — always convinced that he was going to hurt them.
He decided to pursue younger women after having an enjoyable date with his friend's 31-year-old sister. He insisted he wouldn't be able to find a younger woman to date on an app like Bumble, so he joined Seeking Arrangement.
The man said the first woman he met on the site was 'upfront' about the fact that she was willing to have sex with him for money, as long as they had 'some chemistry,' which wasn't what he was looking for.
The next woman he dated was looking for an emotional connection like he was, but she also needed some financial assistance. After a few months together, she told him that she didn't want his money; she just wanted to be with him.
After about five months together, their relationship came to an end when he went out with her and her friends, and they whispered about how old he was, something she didn't anticipate bothering her.
The man said the third woman he met on the site was the one who ended up turning him off of it.
'The third woman I call the "mercenary," and she was the most dangerous person I think I ever met,' he said. 'She scared the s**t out of me. She would say anything to make you think she loved you.
'She lied about not having a boyfriend, not living with him, got all the money, gifts, trips, and plane tickets, and when her boyfriend finally threw her out, she came crawling to me.'
He recalled how she moved in with him for a bit, and then he got her settled in an apartment of her own.
'Once, I got really ill, and I told her what was going on, and I said, "Hey, look we need to have a real relationship, or this isn't going to work." And to this day, I haven't heard back.'
He explained that he just wanted her to be upfront with him, but she would lie and keep their relationship hidden until one day she just dropped out of his life. '
'I was exposing her to my entire world — I have kids who knew about her, my ex knew about her — and she wouldn't expose me to anyone,' he said.
'She was saying all the right things but her actions weren't matching what she was saying. So I told her, either you change or it's not going to work. And then, ghost.'
He admitted that the experience 'destroyed [his] ability to trust' and led to him giving up on the site after having just one phone conversation with another woman.
It also made him reevaluate his thoughts on dating older women, saying he realized they're not traumatized, they're just unwilling to 'put up with bulls**t.'
At the time of the interview, he was dating a younger woman he met after she dropped her phone in front of the outdoor restaurant he was eating at, and he helped her pick it up.
'My current girlfriend does have a job but she doesn't have a job that can pay for the lifestyle she likes, so I do find myself supporting her financially almost as much,' he admitted, saying the difference between that and having a sugar baby is 'perception.'
'I want chemistry to come before the financial for me. That's the difference,' he explained.'Whereas the other way around, it's, Give me money, and then I'll spend time with you.
'When there's no feeling behind it, no desire to be with someone because you have a semblance of attraction, you're just providing a service. I could just hire a hooker for an hour, it's the same thing.'
