White House adviser Peter Navarro on Sunday accused China of 'profiteering' from the coronavirus pandemic.
The economist says the communist regime 'hoarded' PPE while 'hiding the virus from the rest of the world', leaving others 'defenseless'. He said $0.50 masks made in China  are now 'being sold to hospitals here in America for as much as $8'.
Navarro, who holds a doctorate in economics but has no formal medical training, told Fox News: 'China did [several things] over the course of this thing which led to the deaths of many people worldwide.
'First of all, the virus was spawned in China. Second of all, they hid the virus behind the shield of the World Health Organization. The third thing they did was basically hoard personal protective equipment and now they're profiteering from it.'

Navarro told Fox News last Tuesday that the World Health Organization has 'blood on their hands.'
He added to that Sunday arguing China 'used its influence' at the WHO 'to hide the virus from the world'.
Navarro said: 'This was a time where that virus could have been contained in Wuhan; instead, five million Chinese people went out from Wuhan and propagated the virus around the world.'

Navarro said: 'They basically went around and vacuumed up virtually all of the PPE around the world, including a lot from this country, which was for humanitarian reasons sharing our PPE with them, and what that did was leave people in New York, Milan, and everywhere in-between defenseless when it came time to have that PPE.'
In details he said were 'disturbing' the trade adviser said there was evidence China 'went from a net exporter of personal protective equipment, they are the largest producer of that in the world, to a large net importer'.
'Now what's happening today, which is equally alarming, is China is sitting on that hoard of PPE where it cornered the market and is profiteering.'

Navarro got into a recent blowup with the nation's top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, in the Situation Room when he challenged the doctor's resistance to pushing use of a malaria drug to fight the virus based only on anecdotal evidence.
That same week, word leaked that Navarro had warned in a late January memo about the high potential toll — both in lives and economic damage — from a potential pandemic.
Navarro explained that he 'felt the need to write that memo' because others in the West Wing weren't taking the threat seriously enough.
His concerns didn't get much traction among others who saw them as more alarmist talk from Navarro. And Trump, for his part, said last week he hadn't read the memo, adding, 'Peter writes a lot of memos.'
Navarro's advancement as a political adviser follows several failed attempts at winning political office.
