A Colorado woman has been arrested on a charge of attempted murder after authorities say she drove off a steep embankment with a young child in her car.
According to a press release from the Chafee County Sheriff's Office, shortly before 2pm on Wednesday a 911 call came in reporting an accident off of County Road 321 just north of County Road 162 in Salida.
Responding officers discovered a vehicle that had driven off the south side of the roadway and landed in a deep ditch.

The driver of the wrecked car was identified as 28-year-old Phuong Nu Hoang Dong Nguyen.
At the time of the incident, she had a five-year-old child riding as a passenger in her vehicle.
Both Nguyen and the child were rescued from the car and transported to Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.
Nguyen was then booked into the county jail on a felony count of first-degree attempted murder, which in Colorado entails knowingly engaging in conduct which creates a grave risk of death while exhibiting extreme indifference to the value of human life.

In a brief phone conversation with the DailyMail.com on Thursday, Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze declined to explain what led his agency to charge Nguyen with the felony, which is punishable by up to 48 years in prison, citing an ongoing investigation.
Also, Spezze would not say how Nguyen is connected to the child in her car.
The five-year-old year was released into the custody of a guardian.
