This is the moment a petrified shopper was forced to drop his bags and flee from an out of control car rolling towards him.

Horrifying footage shows the man jump out of the vehicle's path seconds before it comes to a crashing halt where he had been standing.

The man is seen casually walking home along the quiet street near Batley, West Yorkshire, with shopping bags as an empty car transporter chugged past on the residential road.

Seconds later, a black Audi A3 comes tearing along the road and tries to overtake the car transporter.

But the car appears to clip the back wheel of the transporter, becoming airborne as the driver loses control. 

The Audi barrel rolls in the air and flips over three times as it hurtles towards the shopper.

Hearing the commotion behind him, the man turns around and drops his bags as he dashes off in terror.

The Audi lands back on its four wheels just in front of where the man had been standing.

The stunned car transporter driver pulls over after hearing the crash and yells: 'Are you all right?'

The footage was recorded on a home CCTV camera just before 8pm on May 2.

It is not known whether the driver was injured in the crash.
