New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio ordered the park/playground fences to be locked with chains and even had some fences welded together.
The problem with this is that several thousand people gathered in Brooklyn yesterday (see below) for a ‘Trans Black Lives Matter’ protest.
A photo from the protest yesterday:
There appears to be a very different standard for different groups of New Yorkers. The hypocrisy is wearing thin on those in the city who have been shut down while watching the huge protests and riots all over the city.
Today, some in the Jewish community in Brooklyn decided enough is enough and took bolt-cutters to the chains on a playground fence. Not everyone was thrilled with the move, but how can the parks and playgrounds remain closed if thousands are shoulder to shoulder protesting?
Things getting heated in #Williamsburg #Brooklyn when local resident furious that lock to park was broken to allow children to play. Thousands protest each day with approval of @NYCMayor, but 100 children can't play in a park.
Earlier in the day, the welded fence was back to just a chain and locks:
After pressure from all the politicians, including Assemblyman Joe Lentol, NYC Park Dept is now removing the weld and putting back the chain and locks on the Middleton Playground (Lynch Park).

First thing today, the fence was welded together to make sure kids can’t play:

A MASSIVE ‘TRANS BLACK LIVES MATTER’ PROTEST YESTERDAY:
A massive ‘Black Trans Lives Matter’ protest was held in Brooklyn, New York. A video from the protest shows thousands packed in the streets.
NY Rep. Lee Zeldin wasted no time calling out the hypocrisy of having a huge ‘Black Trans Lives Matter’ protest while New York State is still demanding that high school graduation be held to 150 people. He also said some businesses haven’t been allowed to open yet.
Governor Cuomo has been singling out and threatening New Yorkers in the “Hamptons and Manhattan” (see below) but NOT the ‘Black Trans’ protest crowd.
Rep. Zeldin tweeted:
If this is OK, then it’s definitely NOT OK for the state to cap outdoor graduation ceremonies for NY’s High School seniors at 150 people. Not to mention countless businesses haven’t even been allowed to open up yet
New Yorkers are not happy about this hypocrisy. One angry New Yorker tweeted:
“On Friday we learned that summer sleepaway camps would not open in NY. Kids are being turned away from playgrounds in Brooklyn. Yet just a few miles away, this rally occurred today. The lockdown is over, except for the camps, schools & stores that are forced to comply with it.”
Another New Yorker said his family can’t open their restaurants but this huge protest is allowed to happen:
