Sesame Street has condemned racism in a poignant social media message that was shared just days before it was announced the show will be speaking to children about racial prejudice at a town hall in collaboration with CNN.
Throughout its 50-year history, the children's program has been a champion of diversity and equality. In light of the murder of George Floyd and the protests against police brutality, the show is urging fans to speak out against racism.
'Racism has no place on our Street — or on any street. Sesame Street was built on diversity, inclusion, and, especially, kindness,' reads the post that was shared on the program's official Instagram account on Monday.

Over the past five decades, Sesame Street has featured guests and characters of all races, religions, sexual orientations, and economic backgrounds while celebrating individuality.
