With COVID kicking everyone's backsides we decided to really hunker down. Changed a lot of 'old school' policies and got everything moving like a well-oiled machine...
Then employees started sending hate mail. The interactions were the same (we record everything) with no change, but the sense of entitlement went up 500% when you could get something that the old regime took a week to fix down on a Tuesday afternoon.
We finally stopped when a sweet, kind 20 year veteran of the job, never hurt a fly, called threatening to quit. Not because the work was difficult, but people were just being huge unnecessary dicks because it took him a little longer to get something done (that would have been a week longer prior).
So we had our best numbers on resolution and lowest numbers on satisfaction, and closed the project. The sad part? If people hadnt been horrible for this perceived change and how 'easy' the job must be to take less than a day to fix, we'd still be churning along. But corporate doesn't care, so we don't. Enjoy IT Hell.
