A Texas rancher's TV interview about the crisis on the border was interrupted when federal agents stormed his property chasing migrants as he said he was 'under siege' amid the crisis.

John Sewell was speaking remotely to Fox News about the border crisis, saying he had already caught three migrants at his ranch that day before breakfast.

Dana Perino was attempting to read a statement issued by Sen. Mark Kelly about President Joe Biden's speech on Wednesday but dogs were heard loudly barking in the background.

Sewell said: 'Dana, I'm sorry, I had a group of guys coming through looking for some immigrants, you're going to have to put it back at me again … we're not getting the support as the US.

'This is not panning out good for us. We're under siege here. And when I say that, I've already got three this morning before breakfast.'

Perino then asked Sewell what actions he takes after apprehending the migrants at his property.

He replied: 'I obviously call the Border Patrol. That's our first line of defense. And that's another thing, we're nervous as to what we can get away with and what we can't get away with.

'These people, it seems like they have more rights than we do. It's very unfortunate that we're having to battle this and the CBP is telling us that all they do is enforce policy.'

After the interview ended, co-host Bill Hemmer branded it 'remarkable'.

The rancher previously said migrants were entering his property at night and he had 'never seen' the crisis at this level.

On Wednesday, Biden said it was time to end the 'exhausting war' on immigration and appealed to lawmakers in both parties to come together on the issue.

'Let's end our exhausting war over immigration,' he said during his Joint Address to Congress.

Biden asked lawmakers to pass the comprehensive immigration plan he proposed, which includes an eight-year path to citizenship for most of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, eliminates restrictions on family-based immigration, expands worker visas, and includes funding for security updates at the border.

Republicans have criticized Biden for rolling back Donald Trump's stricter immigration policies, claiming it has led to a surge of migrants across the border.

Biden also praised Vice President Kamala Harris, who he put in charge of diplomatic efforts on the Southern border.

'I have absolute confidence she will get the job done,' he said.

Republicans have criticized Harris for not yet visiting the Southern border.

Harris does plan to visit Central America in June. Additionally, she held a virtual meeting on Monday with the president of Guatemala and meet virtually with community groups from the country on Tuesday.

Biden's immigration push comes amid a surge of migrants at the Southern border.

According to Customs and Border Patrol data, the number of immigrants apprehended along the southern border jumped from 96,974 in February to 168,195 in March.

The last time single-month apprehensions were that high was in March of 2001. Additionally in March, CBP  apprehended 18,656 unaccompanied minors at the southern border, a record since at least October 2009 and double February's numbers.

Republicans see the issue as one they can use to make in roads with voters in the 2022 midterms.

Biden said immigration reform would be one of his top priorities as president but it has fallen by the way side given the COVID pandemic and the focus on rebuilding the American economy.

Meanwhile new data from US Customs and Border Protection revealed a 60 per cent rise in unlawful migrant crossings on freight trains via the United States-Mexico border since October.

According to stats released Monday, CBP officers have detained 292 undocumented migrants in El Paso, Texas, since the beginning of fiscal year 2021 (October 2020). In comparison, the agency reported 181 apprehensions during the same time period for the previous fiscal year.
