Almost 80,000 foreign nationals have entered the United States in the last four months through an online application.

The CBP One app, which allows foreign nationals to schedule appointments at ports of entry to apply for asylum, was established as the “primary method for migrants arriving at the U.S. border seeking asylum” by the Biden administration in January 2023.

Between January and the end of April, over 79,000 foreign nationals have been admitted into the United States through the application, according to the Associated Press. Meanwhile, an average of 1,070 foreign nationals scheduled appointments at ports of entry every day between May 12 and May 19.

The Department of Homeland Security told the AP that the app cuts out “unscrupulous smugglers who profit from vulnerable migrants.”

The state of Texas is suing the Biden administration over the application, with Attorney General Ken Paxton accusing the administration of intentionally enabling illegal immigration. “The Biden Administration deliberately conceived of this phone app with the goal of illegally pre-approving more foreign aliens to enter the country and go where they please once they arrive,” Paxton charged in a press release.

More 99% of foreign nationals who applied to enter the United States through an exception to Title 42 expulsions via the CBP One app had their applications approved , a CBP spokesperson said, according to Fox News. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) blasted the CBP One app, calling it a “concierge service for illegal immigrants.”

In addition to the estimated 80,000 foreign nationals who have entered the U.S. through the CBP One app, an estimated 1.5 million “gotaways” — illegal immigrants that have entered the United States without being apprehended by law enforcement — under the Biden administration. Roughly 415,000 total “gotaways” were reported during the last three years of the Trump administration.

Meanwhile, one recent poll from CBS News found that 63% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the United States border, while just 37% say that they approve.
