Pennsylvania launched an investigation into a school district superintendent after he allowed a “genderqueer witch” to discuss sexual topics with students without parental consent, according to a letter obtained by The Daily Wire.
On Friday, the Pennsylvania Department of Education said that it was looking into Unionville-Chadds Ford School District Superintendent John Sanville over allegations that he hid information from parents seeking answers after a “genderqueer witch” known as Deni Tobin spoke last year to high school freshmen.
Tobin talked to students about dating violence and administered a survey on their sexual history, including asking them whether they had ever pressured anyone into sexual activity. Parents also believe that Tobin distributed resources from Planned Parenthood at the meeting.
Parents have repeatedly pressed the school board for answers on the presentation. In April, local parent and lawyer Chad Williams filed an educator misconduct complaint against Sanville, accusing the superintendent of stonewalling his search for answers.
On Friday, the Pennsylvania Office of General Counsel told Williams that the Commonwealth would be conducting a preliminary investigation into Sanville.
In the letter, Assistant Counsel Jeff Fair told Williams that he had “reviewed the educator misconduct complaint … in which you alleged Dr. Sanville is violating the law in order to shield himself from transparency and accountability for his documented misconduct and violations of law.”
“We have determined that the allegations in your complaint are legally sufficient to warrant professional discipline,” Fair wrote.
The department will dismiss the case if it does not find probable cause. If it does, then it will forward its findings to the district or the department will conduct its own investigation.
The school district has already conducted an investigation and determined that its own policy had not been followed when Tobin had distributed the sex-themed surveys to the students. Tobin was brought on to speak as part of the Chester County Crime Victims Center, an organization that worked with the district from 2017-2023.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education did not respond to a request for comment.
