‘She’s Not Smart Enough To Do A News Conference’: Trump Rips Harris For Avoiding Media Appearances

Former President Donald Trump said his opponent Vice President Kamala Harris is “not smart enough to do a news conference” as he took numerous questions from reporters at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday.

Trump touched on many issues and campaign developments during the press conference, including saying that he has agreed to three debates against Harris on three different networks with all of them taking place next month. Trump also slammed questions about reported enthusiasm around the new Democratic ticket and blasted Harris for seemingly avoiding the media.

“You have not had a public campaign event for nearly a week now. Tomorrow, you’ll be in Montana, which is not a swing state. Some of your allies have expressed concern that you’re not taking this race seriously while there’s enthusiasm on the other side,” a reporter said.

“What a stupid question,” Trump shot back.

“Why haven’t you been campaigning this week?” the reporter pressed.

“Because I’m leading by a lot and I’m letting their convention go through,” Trump replied. “And I’m campaigning a lot. … I’m speaking to radio, I’m speaking to television, television is coming over here. Excuse me, what are we doing right now?”

“She’s not doing any news conference,” he added in reference to Harris. “Do you know why she’s not doing [it]? Because she can’t do a news conference. She doesn’t know how to do a news conference. She’s not smart enough to do a news conference.”

“We need smart people to lead this country because our country has never been in this danger before,” Trump continued. “From an outside perspective, Russia doesn’t respect us anymore, China doesn’t respect us anymore, North Korea — Kim Jong Un — like me a lot; he doesn’t like this group.”

The former president argued that the Biden-Harris administration has put the U.S. “in great danger of World War III” with its foreign policy decisions. Along with Harris not holding a news conference since Biden dropped out of the race, the 81-year-old commander-in-chief has kept a noticeably light schedule even though the U.S. faces escalating tensions in the Middle East.
