After being exposed for its unconstitutional censorship of Americans, the Center for Countering Digital Hate is now on the brink of complete collapse, leaving X and fighting for its existence as it faces a congressional investigation.
The Center for Countering Digital Hate is a UK-US intelligence operation that presents itself as an anti-hate group but works to suppress free speech and influence the outcome of elections.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has set a deadline of November 21 for the controversial group to respond to a subpoena and supply communications records pertaining to social media platform manipulation and government collusion.
One particular campaign that is under scrutiny is an initiative known as “Kill Musk’s Twitter.” Leaked internal memos from the center’s meetings show that they launched a concerted effort to destroy the platform. They issued a report that claimed the platform failed to take action against “99% of blue accounts tweeting hate” and called for an advertiser boycott.
They must also provide documents of the communications between themselves and social media companies and other third parties related to groups, posts and accounts that were targeted for suppression, deletion or other types of moderation.
There are numerous instances where the CCDH clearly acted well outside of their stated purpose. For example, evidence shows they worked behind closed doors with the Biden-Harris administration and the UK Foreign Office as far back as 2021 to systematically censor posts that go against preferred government narratives.
They carried out a “black ops” campaign against Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who was running for president at the time that he was targeted. They also went after GreenMedInfo founder Sayer Ji.
The group was also behind the so-called “Disinformation Dozen,” a report that targeted 12 websites and individuals who had been bravely questioning the COVID-19 lockdowns and vaccines, including Kennedy. They smeared these individuals and called for them to be deplatformed, and their list attracted significant media attention.
Trump plans to fully investigate CCDH
The outcome of the current congressional scrutiny may not even matter as journalist Matt Taibbi and Paul Thacker have reported that a Trump campaign source told them that the Center for Countering Digital Hate is going to be “investigated from all angles.”
The spokesperson said: “Everything is going to be investigated. This will be at the top of the list.”
The Trump campaign is reportedly very upset that a group associated with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s new government is targeting its political allies and its parent organization, Labour Together, has been openly advising the Harris-Walz campaign.
The Trump campaign even contacted the Federal Election Commission to let them know the Labour Party and Harris had been “making and accepting illegal foreign national contributions.”
America First Legal recently filed a formal complaint with the Department of Justice against the group over its election interference. In addition, they asked the DoJ to explore whether they are considered “agents of a foreign principal” and would therefore be forced to comply with the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
They also provided proof that the group was trying to stop Americans from exercising their constitutional right to free speech.
The legal group said that CCDH was “engaged in brazen smearing, attacking of dissenting views, deplatforming, censoring and pro-active shrinkage of the Overton window [by] strategically conflating serious voices with the fringes, mixing them together to isolate genuine actors and squash dissent.”
